The Pilot Pen Tennis is an annual hard-court tennis tournament which is held in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. The tournament is a Premier event on the WTA Tour and is a part of ATP World Tour 250 series on the ATP Tour. It is held just before the fourth and last Grand Slam of the year, US Open. The tournament is a hugely popular one, with the International coverage reaching more than 100 million viewers in around 50 countries.
The event offers total prize money of $600,000 and the surface on which the matches are played is known as DecoTurf. The tournament was first held in 1948 and was named as U.S. Women's Hardcourt Championships and was first played in Sacramento, United States. Since its inauguration, the tournament has moved to several locations like San Francisco, Utah, Washington, Seattle, San Diego, Berkley and Denver.
Besides the great tennis action, the tournament also features special events like an autograph session for fans, food and wine festival, Sportzone which include activities, contests and prizes.
