The AEGON International is an annual grass-court tennis tournament which is held in Eastbourne, United Kingdom. The tournament is held since 1974 and is classified as a Premier event on the WTA Tour. The tournament is played on outdoor grass courts and is usually considered as a warm event before the Wimbledon, as AEGON International is held a week before Wimbledon.
The venue of the tournament Devonshire Park is the oldest park in Eastbourne and has hosted Lawn Tennis since 1870’s. Thus, the park has a history of over 130 years and besides being used as venue for AEGON International, it has also been used as local center, and a number of Davis Cup ties. In the year 2009, the tournament also featured a men’s event which is ATP World Tour 250 series. The tournament saw a record attendance of around 37,000 people who witnessed a great week of tennis.
