Achievements – In 1997, Serena defeated two Top 10 players (Monica Seles and Mary Pierce) in a single tournament at Ameritech Cup in Chicago and thus became the lowest ranked tennis player in history to do so. In 1998, she became the fastest woman in tennis history to record 5 Top10 wins at 1998 Lipton Championships in Miami. In 2001, she won the Season-Ending Championships on her debut and thus became the first player in tennis history to do so. In 2009, she became the first woman to win $6 million in prize money in a single year.
