Achievements –
In 2001, Clijsters became the first Belgian to reach a Grand Slam singles final in the Open Era. In 2003, she became the first Belgian to be ranked No.1, but she also managed to do so without winning a Grand Slam title. In 2009, she won the US Open and became only the third unseeded and first unranked female champion of a Grand Slam.

Charities –
Since 2005, Kim Clijsters has been actively involved in a project by Flemish Hetty Schiltmans called Buba&Batma. The project aims at helping the street children and orphans in Southeast India. For her many charities, Kim was awarded as WTA Humanitarian of the Year in 2006.
