The Swiss Indoors, Basel also known as Davidoff Swiss Indoors is an annual hard-court tennis tournament which is held in Basel, Switzerland. The tournament has made a name for itself for its quality and continuity. The tournament began in 1970 with the winner presented with a wristwatch. Over its 40 years of history, all the World Number 1 players have featured in this tournament and many of them have inscribed their name in Basel’s Golden Book of Winners. Switzerland’s leading sporting event boasts of some of the most impressive list of champions like Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl and many others.
The tournament is Switzerland’s largest sporting event and is one of the most important indoor tournaments in the world. The tournament usually takes place in the last week of October or first week of November and thus, it forms a part of the season-end run for World Finals.
