Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships

Rakuten-Japan-Open-Tennis-CThe Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships is an annual hard-court tennis tournament which is held in Tokyo, Japan. The event is the longest-running ATP World Tour Tennis tournament in Asia and thus it is said that Asian Tennis has its roots in the Land of Rising Sun. The first edition of the tournament was held in 1972 and since then it has become one of the biggest tennis events in Japan. The event is also a part of WTA Tour for women and is a Tier III tournament.

The venue of the tournament is Ariake Colosseum, which is an enormous tennis center consisting of 48 tennis courts and the center court features a retractable roof which was one of the first retractable roofs in tennis. The tournament is not well-renowned around the world, but still many top ranked players have featured in this tournament in both men’s as well as women’s competitions.
